Metro: BNP, EDL, PUAF

Metro: BNP met by hundreds of ‘anti-fascists’ at Westminster

Summary:
50 British National Party members and supporters turned out for a march and motorcade outside the houses of parliament. The police stopped this from happening. The English Defence league was holding a number of small events across the country. The Protest group Unite Against Fascism blocked off the BNP march. Some of the rival protesters came to blows. The parents of Rigby (who was stabbed to death) ask to not use their son’s name for their own agenda. The Britons understand that the EDL does not speak for all Britain and the Muslim extremists do not speak for al Muslims. There has been a gathering in Woolwich aimed at calming the tension. The two suspected killers have been taken into custody

My opinion:
It is terrible what happened to Lee Rigby and I think it’s outrageous how the EDL and the BNP take advantage of it. I understand that the Parents of Rigby don’t want this. I wouldn’t want it if I were in the same situation. It is not where he stood for, so I think the EDL and BNP should show more respect to the murdered soldier. I think it is a good thing that there exists something like a PUAF to fight against these far right parties and that they don’t want anybody to think that all Muslims are bad people. I also think it is a good thing that they organized a gathering to calm the tension, because I understand that there will be a lot of tension among the citizens because of everything that is going on right now.
